Dictionary.com defines “glamorous” in two ways. 1 – full of glamour; charming or fascinatingly attractive, especially in a mysterious or magical way, and 2 – full of excitement, adventure, and activity.

As I went searching for a glamorous person today, I was really stumped…I don’t pay too much attention to celebrities, and everyone glamorous I thought of was dead. Then my daughter turned on the television after work and supplied my answer: The drag queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race! These ladies really fit the definition, especially the “mysterious or magical” part. And although at first glance this reality show looks pretty fluffy and rather strange, the contest format gives the audience an opportunity to watch the contestants grow and improve (not to mention sending some hard-working queen home at the end of the season $100,000 richer). There’s always a back story, and the competition truly is transformative for the contestants. And it is fun to watch!

The other candidate for the “glamorous” title today is my favorite erotic cartoon character (sitting sweetly on the front of my tee-shirt right at this moment), Omaha the Cat Dancer. OmahaThis sophisticated lovely, drawn by the team of Reed Waller and Kate Worley in the 1970’s and 1980’s, is an anthropomorphic female stripper who dances at the “Kitty Korner Club”. She is surrounded by a cast of shady characters, and definitely lives a life “full of excitement, adventure, and activity”.
