St. Paul’s Episcopal Church is home to a wonderful community garden, and we share our bounty with communities of senior citizens as well as young families. In my book, the “community” part of the garden is the best part; from the very beginning the children have been welcome as workers and given real tasks to do. With each weed they pull or veggie they harvest, they stand a little taller. They know their efforts have worth and that no one is just patting them on their little heads hoping they will go away!
Here is one of my favorite pictures from last spring (I didn’t have my camera on our last work day).
