The Ash Wednesday service, with its exhortations for us to examine our lives in the light of Christ’s teachings, could not have come at a better time for me. Time to slow down and “check myself” against what I have been called to do.
I always forget that this passage comes from Psalm 51, but when I hear it, it brings me joy.
“Create in me a clean heart, O God,*
and renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from your presence*
and take not your holy Spirit from me.
Give me the joy of your saving help again*
and sustain me with your bountiful Spirit.”
Hi Fawn.
Lots to contemplate this past week. Sometimes attending a place of worship helps clear the fog a bit. I hope the young family you wrote about is finding strength to deal with the loss of their child. They have people like you in their lives and it sounds as if they have a circle of support to help cope.
I hope you are not too sad…

All the other areas of our lives are going so well right now, AnnMarie…my sadness is for Erica and all she won’t get to experience with Hendrix. The GoFundMe page I set up for the family yesterday is nearing $2,000, our OG team has a yard sale and bake sales in the works, and his funeral will be on Monday. Grief works in baby steps, and is helped by supportive friends. 🙂 – Fawn

Psalm 51 is beautiful. My thoughts keep going to Erica and her family. You did a very good thing when you set up the GoFundMe page for the family. And I hope the yard sale and bake sales will be a big help too.

The baby’s service is Monday morning, and Georgia tells me that we can all go to the funeral itself, but the time afterward is for family only. I will be home with Olivia. – Me
