Our monthly Helping One Woman dinner was tonight, and I had been plotting and planning this whole month on how to get our Olive Garden manager nominated for next month’s dinner. I had talked to our entire leadership team, as well as several others in attendance, about nominating her when the time came. I watched as more and more people added forms to the jar. Finally, after a lovely corned beef and cabbage dinner (salad, rolls, and potatoes for me), tonight’s honoree reached into the jar and pulled out (insert drum roll here) Erica’s name.
Her mother came up to the podium with me as we briefly shared the story of Erica and Baby Hendrix. She is such a lovely woman, and we had already spoken during dinner about her interest in becoming part of the H.O.W. organization. Now the fun begins, as I gather a team to prepare door prize and silent auction items for next month’s dinner, and share our excitement with those who might join us for dinner.
If you are local, mark your calendar for 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the Marriott Hotel. Dinner cost is $17, with a donation of at least $10 for our honoree.
