The gang at Dictionary.com defines “gather” as “to come together around a single point; assemble”.
That’s what we do at our Second Saturday Scraps each (drumroll, please) second Saturday of the month. We gather together at The Little House, 939 S. Chinowth Street, Visalia, CA, to scrapbook, make cards or other paper crafts, visit, eat, inspire and be inspired, commiserate, eat some more, and just have a wonderful day filled with creative female friends. I represent Close To My Heart scrapbooking and papercrafting, but we are not snotty about product here — if you like it, it doesn’t matter what brand it is or who sold it to you — you are still welcome. This coming Saturday (April 11) is our monthly gathering, and if you can’t be with us in the flesh, I encourage you to gather (there’s that word again) up a creative project of your own and work on it with us in spirit. We will be there from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., as I have to be at Olive Garden by 4:30.

Reading about a gathering of lady friends makes me smile. What a wonderful way to spend artful time. Gatherings such as these are wonderful ways to exchange creative ideas and to feel a part of something greater…
Gather away!

We really have developed a lovely little community of supportive women; my main sidekick and I have been scrapbooking together for nearly 12 years now. There is a new lady who has asked to come this weekend — she just buried her husband after a lengthy illness, and I’m so glad she is going to spend time working on albums for her grandchildren. Sometimes we are all very chatty, and sometimes we work for ages in companionable silence. I wish you could join us. – Fawn

Morning Fawn.
In my mind I am there with you and the terrific ladies, chatting away. We’re sipping tea and coffee. There is a plate of Social Tea crackers and Girl Scout cookies. No one is touching them ‘casue Spring outfits are on everyone’s mind. But, I love cookies. So I start in and then it’s a free for all. We are all eating cookies and scrapbooking. Then you bust out the fudge you’d been hiding in your bag. I can work in silence, often do, but when I’m surrounded by lovely people all I want to do is smile and chat 🙂
I got a little carried away, but it’s Friday!
I’m sorry for the new woman’s loss. She is blessed to have good people in support.
Have a terrific weekend.
AnnMarie 🙂

Sounds like a lot of fun is had, Fawn! And though I can’t be there, I’ll work on my creative project (writing) in your honor. That day also happens to be my anniversary, but since my husband has to work I’ll get to work (creatively) as well. 🙂

It is great fun, Deb, although we also spend time solving (or at least hashing over) the world’s problems. I look forward to reading what you write. Congratulations on your anniversary. How many years? I hope you will have a chance to celebrate together later on. – Fawn
