Merriam-Webster.com defines “renew” as 1) to make like new; restore to freshness, vigor, or perfection, 2) to make new spiritually, 3) to restore to existence, revive.

Thanks to a visit from a preschool classmate’s dad, Olivia was able to renew her interest in becoming a vet when she grows up. She has talked about being a vet since she was old enough to know the word, and it is a game she plays often. But today she was able to watch and talk to a real-life animal doctor, and she liked what she saw.

The good doctor was accompanied by four one-week old buck kids, who weren’t a bit afraid of the human kids, who were able to pet and cuddle with them. Olivia explained to me that, “It is okay for them to nibble on my fingers, because they don’t bite hard.”

Olivia loved petting the little kids.

The doctor brought along syringes, medicines, and his ultrasound machine, with the image of two little goat twins in utero for the kids to see. He also brought his mobile office, and let the kids climb up the ladder and peek into the back of his truck to see the refrigerator and storage for his equipment.

Olivia was fascinated by the refrigerator and medicines in the back of the vet's truck.

I am grateful that Olivia was able to see a vet close at hand, and renew her interest in being an “animal doctor”.
