Earlier this evening my daughter, son-in-law, and I were talking about classics to read to the girls before bed each night.  Number one on my list for Lily to read is Little Women, but I think it might be too old for Olivia still.  But as much as they both love fairies, I’m thinking Louisa’s first book, Flower Fables, would make for a good “starter Alcott” book.

Anything by Shel Silverstein, Robinson Crusoe, and Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates all came up for discussion.  What would you add to read to a five and nine year old girl just before bed?  Share your choices in the Comments, please.
