As I sat down to blog tonight I was sidetracked by a news report out of Victorville, California, telling about a fast-moving wildfire that jumped Interstate 15 and destroyed over a dozen vehicles on the freeway. The pictures showed people fleeing their cars on foot, then returning to find them gutted by fire. Truly disturbing.
I have traveled that road many times with my family on the way to and from Las Vegas, and cannot imagine how frightening it must have been to realize that the fire was unavoidable.
The good news is that there evidently were no fatalities. My heart and prayers go out to those travelers and the first responders involved, as well as to the community of Victorville.
Hug your families a little bit tighter tonight. Sweet dreams.
