My priest wore her orange stole during this morning’s service. Her sister sewed it for her several years ago to wear as a sign of solidarity with Bishops United Against Gun Violence and for those affected by gun violence in this country. Today’s vestments should have been green, the liturgical color for this “ordinary time” in the Episcopal Church. But after yesterday’s shootings in Midland and Odessa, Texas, where a gunman killed six innocent people and injured more than 20 others, orange was the best option.
Beyond that, I have no words.
