Thanks to Yahoo Weather and my iPhone, the girls and I keep tabs on what’s happening weather-wise in the cities where our loved ones live. Lily checks on our Visalia weather daily as she picks out her school clothes, and Olivia loves to look at the icons to see what to expect next. This morning the charts showed a 40% chance of rain for us at 10:00 a.m. Olivia was really excited, as we have been in a drought since she was born, and rain is still quite a treat for her. We were having a “staying in and snuggling” morning, so watching the weather change was easy.
About 9:30 the sky started darkening, right on schedule. And two minutes early — at 9:58 — the rain started pouring down! Quick as can be Olivia ran to her room and got dressed so that she could go outside and watch the rain. She was back inside shortly to trade her shoes for rain boots. Then Lily jumped up to join her. My idea was that they should stay under the patio cover and watch it rain. But they had other ideas.
Soon I heard stomping and shrieking as Olivia wielded her rain boots in the puddle. I called them in before they were too thoroughly soaked, but they had a great time.
I hope it rains again tomorrow.

Hi Fawn,
Hope all is well over on that side of the good old USA. Glad your sweet rain came as promised. It’s always so lovely when the forecasters are spot on and Mother Nature delivers as promised.
Besides adorable rain attire, your granddaughters are wearing bright rain smiles.
We actually hit 30 degrees yesterday and I sat outside and breathed in the air awhile. I’ve been locked up in my studio the past few weeks trying to get much art done for a project I hope to see published – that would be hoping for paper rain 🙂
You have a lovely Monday.
AM 🙂

Yikes! A 30 degree high is a hard thing for my brain to process, but I’m glad it gave you fresh air for a trip outside. All that creativity needs oxygen! I can’t wait to hear more about your project.
I understand we had nearly one-half inch of rain yesterday, which is an astounding amount for us. We should have more today, too. Now if we could have that much every week through the spring, we wouldn’t be so deeply in the hole.
Happy Monday. – Fawn

Good morning, Fawn! So glad you received your much-needed rain. It’s always strange to me how one part of our great country has one type of weather, and another part has totally different weather (like, it’s cold and snowy where I live, but in Florida it’s warm and sunny; what gives with that?!). While I like a nice, warm springtime rain, I sometimes dislike the muddly puddles that follow … but, I won’t complain because I’ll remember there are places that desperately need those sky drops. Glad you and your granddaughters could enjoy your rain! Have a great day, 🙂

Funny thing about yesterday’s rain: When Georgia and I got home from work late last night it looked like the weeds had grown about six inches! It was as though the whole yard was yelling “yippee”!
I hope you have warmer weather today. Enough is enough! Happy Monday! – Fawn

The weeds were thirsty, Fawn. 🙂 Sun is shining here, but only 7 degrees. But … the sun is shining! 🙂

Seven degrees??? I may have experienced 7 degrees at a high school ski trip to Sequoia National Park, but I can’t imagine it on a regular basis. But I am very glad the sun is shining for you. 🙂 – Fawn

I still like to play out in the rain if the weather is warm enough. Or reading and feeling cozy inside while it pours outside. I would have been right there with Lily and Olivia stomping in puddles! The picture of the girls is so cute! At the moment we have lots of snow here and it is 4 degrees.
